Annabelle Gurwitch
Annabelle Gurwitch, an American comedian and host of a television show, is best known for her time as host in Dinner and a Movie. She has also been an active advocate for human rights and environmental issues. Annabelle Gurwitch a New York Times Bestseller author, actor and critic for her autobiography Wherever You go Then They Are I see you made an effort. It's Tomato. I say Shutup and Fired. It was also a Showtime Comedy Special. Gurwitch is most well-known for her long tenure as host of TBS Dinner & a Movie. She also has been featured on shows such Better Things Boston Legal Seinfeld Dexter Murphy Brown. She has been a frequent guest in PBS Newhour Real Time With Bill Maher, NPR and writes op-eds and satires for The New York Times WSJ The Hollywood Reporter and Op-eds and satires to The New Yorker. The New York Times, and the Los Angeles Times have ranked her among their annual Top Ten performance of the year in her performance on stage. Annabelle shares her knowledge and humour in her view of the ageing process in our culture which is so centered on youth. Her acclaimed performance material has been performed at international theater festivals and during the 1992 St Y Prevention Magazine AARP events and in women's groups throughout the country. Annabelle talks to audiences about family and the importance of families. The tribes within which we are raised and ones into which we decide to be. She's addressed audiences from all age groups at Now Generation Women's Philanthropy of Phoenix, GOOGLE talks, the Skirball Centre for the Arts, and the Rancho Mirage Writers Conference. Gurwitch employs memoirs to bring meaning back to our past and set our sights on our future. The lectures include those at the George Washington University Watermark Conference for Women Literary Festivals, as well as performance art centers. In the PBS News Hour, she offers her perspective on binge-watching versus reading. The viewer can discern which her side of the argument chooses to take.
